The New London Tube Map Is Designed To Help Sufferers Of Claustrophobia

London Transport have released a redesigned version of the map of the famous Tube under and above-ground railways, which admittedly isn’t the most scintillating of news stories, except for the fact that this one specifically caters for people with claustrophobia and anxiety related issues. NEATO!
The updated map now has an extra bit of colour around sections of the Tube which go underground, in order to help those who suffer from panic attacks and the like, avoid long stretches of tunnels which can be triggering.
Speaking to the UK Telegraph, head of Anxiety UK Nick Lidbetter praised the new map for actively increasing accessibility:

“For those with anxiety conditions such as panic attacks and claustrophobia, we know that travel by the Underground can be problematic and challenging. This new map is an excellent resource for those wishing to avoid journeys where there are tunnels, serving as a great pre-journey planning aid and increasing access to public transport. I sincerely hope that the map will encourage those with claustrophobia and/or panic attacks who have previously avoided this form of public transport out of fear to reconsider their use of the Tube.”

The neat little addition proves how simple and easy it is to increase accessibility for increasingly diverse sectors of the public and hopefully is an idea which takes off elsewhere in the world.
Good shit, London!
