The Face of Tomorrow: Sydney-siders Look Good

An international campaign to deduce the average physical facial appearance has turned up a very favourable – and more likely than not, slightly imprecise – evaluation of how the average Sydney-sider looks.

In a city rich in multifarious culture and healthy immigration – primarily European with around 15% of Asian origin – South African photographer Mike Mike snapped photos of 100 willing participants at Bondi Beach and Sydney University. Instead of returning a composite of foreign diversity, Mike’s artist impressions reflected two faces more akin to those of American Apparel models – or reality TV show hosts. Which begs the question: are the symmetrically advantaged producing the healthier seed?
