The Big US TV Networks Shitcanned A Butt-Tonne Of Your Fave Shows Today

If you know anyone – anyone – who works in the US TV industry, now would be a good time to give them a quick lil call and see if everything’s ok. Today was a bloody day for them.

Three of the major US TV networks, CBS, FOX, and the ABC, took the proverbial broom to their lineups and summarily cancelled an absolute shittonne of shows, including some long-running and widely beloved ones.
The bulk of the spilled blood came from the ABC, who (thanks in large part to new personnel at the top of the organisation) ran through their slate of productions like a hot knife through butter.
Six shows in total felt the hot kiss of cold steel from the network’s banhammer, with the network clearing space for a large slate of new programming to take its place.
The Muppets was the first to go, with the troubled, stop-start attempt at bringing the Henson Company back to primetime being shoved into the bin after two seasons. Following that, the network also cancelled the low-rating but much beloved ‘Marvel’s Agent Carter,’ as well as the eight-season strong, Nathan Fillion-starring ‘Castle,’ the Connie Britton and Hayden Penettiere musical drama ‘Nashville,’ the it-should’ve-been-a-stage-play-to-begin-with ‘Galavant,’ and one-season thriller series ‘The Family.’
Elsewhere the blood-letting wasn’t *quite* as severe, with FOX drawing a line through three failed comedy series: ‘The Grinder,’ ‘Grandfathered,’ and ‘Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Life.’
Whilst CBS only saw fit to mercy kill just one show: ‘CSI: Cyber.’ In doing so, the final CSI series leaves the air, meaning the world of TV will be CSI-less for the first time since 2000.
It ain’t all bad news, however. With the cancellations also came news of a batch of renewals, including new season orders for the likes of ‘Dr. Ken,’ ‘The Real O’Neals,’ and ‘American Crime.’
Also, CBS finally did THE RIGHT BLOODY THING and shifted ‘Supergirl‘ across to its sub-channel The CW, ending months of speculation and putting the surprisingly excellent show into the pond where it clearly belongs, alongside fellow DC Comics series ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ and ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.’
But srsly, someone give Nathan Fillion a new job immediately.
IMMEDIATELY.
