‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Star Terry Crews Files Police Report On Sexual Assault

Terry Crews has reportedly filed a report alleging sexual assault, according to TMZ.

It comes a month after the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star went public with the incident on Twitter, explaining how a “high level Hollywood executive” groped him at a party last year.

“I was going to kick his ass right then – but I thought twice about how the whole thing would appear,” he said. “‘240 lbs [109 kg] black man stomps out Hollywood honcho’ would be the headline the next day. Only I probably wouldn’t have been able to read it because I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN JAIL. So we left.”

The alleged incident is still within the statute of limitations in California, so it’s possible that Crews’ report could trigger a criminal investigation.

Although Crews didn’t name his assailant, it was revealed a short time later that the person in question was Hollywood agent Adam Venit, whose firm WME represents Crews.

Venit was suspended from his agency following the accusation.

Crews came forward in the early days following the Harvey Weinstein accusations, saying the experience had given him new understanding for those who stay silent about sexual assault.

“I decided not to take it further because I didn’t want to be ostracised – par for the course when the predator has power and influence.

“I let it go. And I understand why many women who this happened to let it go. Who’s going to believe you? (Few.) “What are the repercussions?” (Many.) “Do you want to work again? (Yes.) Are you prepared to be ostracised? (No.)

“I understand and empathise with those who have remained silent. But Harvey Weinstein is not the only predator. Hollywood is not the only business where this happens, and to the casualties of this behaviour – you are not alone. Hopefully, me coming forward with my story will deter a predator and encourage someone who feels hopeless.”

He has to comment publicly on filing a police report.
