The Los Angeles DA Is Investigating Terry Crews’ Sexual Assault Allegations

The Los Angeles County District Attorney‘s office has revealed that it is currently reviewing a case from the LAPD involving Hollywood agent Adam Venit, the man accused of sexually assaulting actor Terry Crews at a party in 2016.

The DA’s office declined to name the other party involved, but Terry Crews named Venit as his abuser last year, and has filed a civil suit against him for sexual assault. At the time, Venit reportedly denied “each and every allegation” against him.

The dossier of information given to the DA’s office is said to be “thorough”, although it is unclear whether Venit will face charges or prosecution until the review is complete. Neither Venit nor his employer WME have commented on the current matter.

Speaking to Good Morning America last November, Terry Crews claimed that on the night in question, the agent “made a series of sexually suggestive gestures” before grabbing him by the genitals He says he pushed Venit back, but was then groped a second time.

He said that he left the party shortly after, rationalising that had he physically reacted or defended himself further, he would probably have ended up in prison. “I knew that being a large African-American man in America, I would immediately be seen as a thug,” he said.

“I understood why women everywhere had to let it go,” he continued. “But let me tell you, when the Weinstein thing started happening, I had PTSD. I was going ‘oh my god, this exact thing happened to me.’ I understand why they won’t come forward.”

In addition to Venit, Crews is going after his his employer WME in the civil suit, saying:

“… a message needs to be sent to those in power who abuses those over whom they can exert influence and control that abuse and sexual predatory behavior will not be tolerated.”

In January, WME filed a response, asking to be removed from the lawsuit and claiming it had taken sufficient action with regards to Venit.
