Ooh, Taylor. For someone who (theoretically) wants to be left out of this narrative, you sure seem to be doing your best to provoke the narrative-beast.
You’ve probably seen/heard/absorbed Taylor Swift‘s second single from her upcoming sixth album, Reputation. It’s called ‘…Ready For It?‘ and there’s rampant speculation that it’s about, uh, boning her current boyfriend.
But a few keen-eared listeners are speculating that there’s something else going on: namely, Swift wholeheartedly biting her long-time nemesis Kanye West‘s style.
Check it out:
That heavy synth bass riff sure does sound an awful lot like ‘Ye – though we reckon it’s closer to the start of ‘I’m In It‘ from his 2013 album Yeezus:

Others have made different comparisons, but all pointing to the same thing: Taylor’s either trying to throw some heavy instrumentational shade, she’s decided to capitalise on Kanye’s hard work, or both.

Taylor Swift is singing over a Yeezus throwaway beat on her new song.

This is what the Taylor Swift megamachine has brought us to: dissecting every moment of every release to see if she truly has started actual pop/rap crossover beef. She’s gonna come out and say she based that song on an old brass band record she found in Harry Styles’s closet three years ago, I swear to god, and then what the hell are we gonna do?
