Brazilian model Tales Soares has died suddenly after taking ill and falling on the catwalk during an event at Sao Paolo Fashion Week on Saturday. He was 26.
A statement from the organisers of the event indicated that he suffered a “sudden illness” while walking in a show for the fashion brand Också.
Brazilian daily newspaper Folha reported that the model was walking when he appeared to trip on his shoelace and fall, with onlookers initially thinking it was part of the show.
Photos shared in local media show Tales Soares lying face-down on the catwalk as paramedics attend to him. He was treated on the scene and rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead there.
Organisers added:
“We lament this death and extend our sincerest condolences to Tales’ family. Together with the Base Management Agency, we are providing all necessary assistance in this sad moment.”
In a post to their Instagram stories, the Också brand said:
“The entire Också team are deeply saddened by news of Tales’ death. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends at the Base Agency. We ask our friends for prayers and good energies in this moment of extreme pain.”
No further details on the young model’s death have been revealed.
