#SydneyStorm: Two People Struck By Lightning, Qantas Plane Has Close Call


Vengeance: thy name is #SydneyStorm. It’s back again; and it continues to give zero fucks about your commute home from work, the dryness of your clothing, or your general wellbeing. 

Witnesses on social media are yet again losing their mind over the short, yet powerful storm:
But now, after thunder, lightning, strong wind and heavy rain – this crazily-weathered city already looks like this:
Sydney, you are a volatile mistress.
However, as you likely expected, there’s always bad news. There are already reports that two people have been struck by lightning since the storm began, despite it only lasting approximately an hour.
The ABC is reporting that approximately 14,800 homes are currently without power around NSW, especially around Sydney’s south.
According to The Daily Telegraph, paramedics were called to a scene in St Mary’s just after 5pm, after a passerby called 000 reporting that ‘someone had been struck by lightning’. It’s also being reported that another person has been struck by lightning in Newtown. (More details to follow.) 
However, one of the scariest images comes from Twitter user Daniel Shaw, who saw a Qantas plane have an extremely near miss during the surprise storm:
