Sydney’s Iconic Cargo Bar Is Up For Sale After 15 Years Of Killing It

Okay Sydney, breathe deeply: after sixteen long and well-quenched years, the iconic Cargo Bar has been put up for sale.

The bar’s owners, Keystone Group, have decided to give up the mainstay in favour of expanding in other markets. According to their executive chairman Richard Facioni, letting the the King Street Wharf property go will help “us to accelerate some of those growth plans,” particularly in Melbourne.

FWIW, Keystone also sees opportunities in the wine bar and restaurant space.

While certain circumstances *cough* lockouts *cough* have dramatically shifted the ways bars do (and can) operate in Sydney, the group remains adamant the primo location and continually high patronage will be found v. attractive to buyers.
For the moment though, it’s business as usual at the absolute Sydney classic.
