Following on from an unconfirmed leak of Ashley Madison users’ logins, email addresses and personal information on the dark web overnight, data miners have gone to work on close to 10 GB of information released – unveiling over 700 emails associated with Australian Government officials listed in the leak, among other discoveries.
Data visualisation platform Dadaviz is one such information miner – who curated a series of infographics on the data. NB: as the data remains unconfirmed, any discoveries can’t be used as concrete proof – only as a potential indicator of the site’s database.
One particularly fascinating insight details the locations of Ashley Madison account holders. While São Paulo took out first place of the top 25 cities—according to Dadaviz’s calculations—old mate Sydney (got a feeling that’s not referring to our twin in Nova Scotia, Canada) has brought home the bronze medal, with over 250,000 accounts based in Sydney listed.
Dadaviz has also curated and visualised data on *potential* account users’ body types, eye colours and smoking habits.
