Sydney Gronk Nicks $230K Audi During Test Drive, Leads Cops On Wild Chase

We’ve all probably contemplated the idea of pulling off a Grand Theft Auto style heist during a Gumtree test drive, despite the fact there is literally no way you would ever get away with that crime, under any circumstance.

An Audi R8 worth nearly a quarter of a million bucks was stolen at gunpoint during a test drive in Sydney‘s north-east on Wednesday night, with the would-be thief leading cops on a lengthy chase around the city.
The car’s owner, a 30-year-old Balgowlah man, says that he arranged to meet a prospective buyer for the vehicle – which he says had only done 25,000km and had never been taken on a racing track – outside a service station in his suburb. Rarely has an online arrangement to meet at a servo gone well.
During the test drive, the man reports that the passenger pulled out a gun, pistol-whipped him and forced him out of the vehicle. He called the cops, and the vehicle was soon spotted hooning along Military Road in Mosman.
What followed was an erratic high speed chase around the city, mostly around the Harbour Tunnel. According to a police statement, the driver rammed several cars during the pursuit:
Police were forced to terminate the pursuits several times due to the high-risk behaviour of the driver. Several cars have been damaged in minor collisions with the stolen vehicle and a police car rammed.

The driver was not caught, and the vehicle was sighted in mobile phone footage in a damaged condition near the Domain carpark in the city with its hazard lights flashing.
