Sydney Festival Launches Giant Rubber Duck In The Harbour

Sydney Festival is about to pull out all the bells and whistles with the start of its program on Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped them getting in early with a giant freaking duck.
Early morning joggers and unfortunate early back-to-workers in Sydney’s Circular Quay and Darling Harbour may have snatched an early glimpse of the art work by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, appropriately titled Rubber Duck. It’s about 13.8 metres wide and big enough to make it a mission to get it under bridges.
The Duck wil be officially launched as part of the Day One festivities this Saturday at 2pm, which is the perfect place to bring your girlfriend, kids or immature thirty year old brother. Sydney Festival have been kind enough to shoot us a sneaky photo to demonstrate the scale of the thing. LOOK AT IT GO.
Don’t be a ducking idiot and miss out (sorry, we had to.)
