Sydney Bloke Robbed At Knifepoint While Selling $1100 Yeezys In A Park

Of all the rules associated with hawking your goods online via sites like Gumtree (for example: ensuring you confirm a price beforehand or checking their profile/past reviews) I think it’s safe to say the most important one is to probably not meet the buyer alone in a dimly lit, empty park at night time to conduct the transaction.

Call me crazy, that just sounds like a suss as hell way to do it.

One poor bastard has learnt this the extremely hard way, by having the Kanye West Yeezy shoes he was attempting to sell last night in a park in Dulwich Hill in Sydney’s inner-west stolen from him, after the supposed buyer allegedly pulled a knife on him.

Marrickville police tell the SMH that the thief asked to try on the Yeezys, which can retail for up to $2000, to see if they fit, before threatening the seller with a knife and legging it with the new assistance of his Kanye West/Adidas sneakers.

The cops also believe the man conducted a similar theft earlier that night adjacent to the same park, where an almost identical scam went down but with the suspect allegedly running of with a jacket advertised online for $1000.

Police have launched an investigation into the thefts which took place at Johnson Park in Dulwich Hill and are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The suspect has been described as of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, 170 centimetres tall with a medium build and aged about 16. At the time of the thefts (around 7.30pm) he was wearing a black hooded jumper and black tracksuit pants.

If you’re going to be advertising your shit online and then exchanging goods in person, please be safe out there mates, and always meet in a public, well-lit, ideally populated place.

Your safety is more important than getting the best price for your old, stanky clothes.
