Suspected Remains Of Missing Person Dan O’Keefe Found Under Family Home

A crime scene has been set up at a home in Geelong this afternoon, after human remains have been found underneath the house. 

The house belongs to the O’Keefe family, whose son Daniel O’Keefe went missing in 2011. The family found the remains, and alerted Victoria Police
Dan, who was 28 years old and had recently been diagnosed with depression, disappeared in 2011. He did not take any ID, money, or personal belongings with him. 
The police have stated that no formal identification of the body had yet been made, but the family confirmed via the ‘Daniel Come Home’ Facebook page today that it was indeed their son.

Detective Sargeant Adam Forehan said that the remains were found underneath the house, but would not say why the remains weren’t discovered when police first searched the family home:
“We’re treating it at the highest level at this stage until we satisfy ourselves that there is no suspicious activity.”
