Surprisingly, The Onion Is Worth $200M+ And No This Article Is Not Satire

So, satire/parody site The Onion has decided to sell a pretty huge chunk of ’emselves. A pretty big, expenno chunk.
The entire world has been shocked to learn that the chunk is worth more than most news sites. More than PEDESTRIAN.TV. Far more than any mainstream Aussie media site. Even far more than the Washington Post.
According to SMH, a 40% stake in The Onion‘s parent company (Onion, Inc.) will set you back a report US $200 million (AU $291 million), which values the whole enterprise in the range of $US 500 million.
$200 milli is how much Univision Communications, an American/Spanish broadcast television network, shelled out.
In celebration of comedy/pop culture > news, here are some of our personal fave headlines from the satire geniuses:
  • Leonardo DiCaprio Hopes He Screamed And Cried Good Enough In ‘The Revenant’ To Win Oscar’
  • Longtime Coffee Shop Employee Thought Customers Would Care More About His Last Day
  • NASA Completes 52-Year Mission To Find, Kill God
  • Health Experts Recommend Standing Up At Desk, Leaving Office, Never Coming Back
  • Bush: ‘Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over’

and of course,

  • Woman Feels Like She’s Finally Ready To Start Receiving Unsolicited Vulgar Messages Again
Nice work, infamous satire website The Onion! You do good shit.
