The inbound lane of traffic was briefly closed, but has since reopened. Police remain on the scene.
The protestor reportedly told police he has enough resources to last a few days under the bridge and intends to stay there until Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk declares a climate emergency in the state.
The disruption comes one day after dozens of Extinction Rebellion protesters were arrested after participating in Extinction Rebellion demonstrations around the country.
This demonstration arrives just over a week after an Extinction Rebellion activist was arrested for suspending themselves from a makeshift tripod on Brisbane’s Victoria Bridge.
The protests are expected to continue today around the nation.
