More Human Remains Have Been Discovered That May Be Linked To Alleged Conwoman Melissa Caddick

Melissa Caddick inquiry

A forensic team are now investigating human remains that washed up on Mollymook Beach on Friday night, which they believe may be linked to missing alleged conwoman Melissa Caddick.

Officers were called to the scene around 9.30pm after walkers found what appeared to be a large chunk of stomach flesh, including a belly button, The Daily Telegraph reports.

DNA testing is being carried out to determine whether the stomach belongs to the alleged conwoman.

This comes after a decomposed foot was found at Hobart Beach, near Bermagui on Sunday. On Friday morning Police confirmed that the foot was a DNA match for Caddick. The foot was found just over 150km south of where the stomach was found.

“Assistant Commissioner Mick Willing has confirmed that human remains located on the state’s South Coast on Sunday belong to missing Dover Heights woman, Melissa Caddick,” NSW Police wrote on Twitter.

Police suspect that Caddick may have committed suicide, but are not ruling out foul play.

Prior to her disappearance on November 2, 2020, Caddick’s home was raided by investigators from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC). This was regarding allegations that her company, Maliver, was misappropriating investor funds and operating without a license.

A few days later, Caddick went for a pre-dawn run at her Dover Heights home but did not taker her phone, wallet or keys with her. She has not been seen since.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the reason police still suspect suicide is because the 300m route from her home to the eastern suburbs clifftops are not covered by CCTV cameras. But former friends and investors did not believe she was capable of taking her own life.

“Clearly the circumstances of Melissa Caddick’s disappearance have been distressing for many people, including her alleged victims and of course her family and friends,” Assistant Commissioner Mick Willing said.

“Exactly how Melissa came to enter the water is still a mystery. Police have always kept an open mind in relation to what the circumstances were for her disappearance including the fact Melissa may have taken her own life.”
