Julianna Margulies Recounts Troubling Private ‘Audition’ With Steven Seagal

The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies has stated she was the victim of an intimidating encounter with Steven Seagal when she was still breaking into the industry, adding to an extensive series of allegations made against the action film star.

Speaking on the SiriusXM show Just Jenny, Margulies said Seagal’s assistant invited her to a meeting at his hotel room late in the evening. Margulies, who was 23 at the time, “got to the hotel at 10:40, and she wasn’t there. And he was. Alone.

“And he made sure that I saw his gun, which I had never seen a gun in real life. And I got out of there unscathed.”

The actor said that although she wasn’t physically harmed during the ordeal, she knew she had escaped a potentially terrible situation.

“I don’t know how I got out of that hotel room,” she said.

“It always starts with ‘I’m a healer, I want to massage you,’ and I kind of screamed my way out.”

It’s not the first time Seagal has been accused of making inappropriate advances related to massages.

In 2010, Seagal’s former assistant Kayden Nguyen sued him for alleged sexual assault. The suit referenced an instance in which Seagal allegedly asked for a massage, which snowballed into further sexual assaults.

Nguyen’s lawyers filed to have the case dropped. It is unclear if a settlement was reached.

More recently, former actress Lisa Guerrero described an audition she attended with Seagal during which he only wore a kimono. Guerrero says she was emboldened to come forward after the outpouring of allegations made against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

Margulies also recounted her own run-in with Weinstein. She said that because of her experience with Seagal, she refused to visit his hotel room without female accompaniment.

“He opened the door, in a bathrobe,” she said.

“I could see that there were candles lit in the room, and there was a dinner for two. And I saw him stare at her, daggers… And he looked at me, furious… And he slammed the door. And, of course, I didn’t get the part.”
