Steve Aoki Remixed An Emo Classic ‘Cos It’s What We All Deserve In 2016

This year has been a bloody great time for the heavy eyeliner Myspace era from 2006, as many of the albums and bands of the Golden Years Of Emo™ are celebrating 10 year anniversaries.

Yep it’s been 10 whole years since I hacked at my own hair in the bathroom of my parents house while blasting Alexisonfire‘s Crisis
One of the most pivotal albums of that time was My Chemical Romance‘s The Black Parade, and the kings of screaming emotions and feelings into the infinite dark void of misery have allowed Steve Aoki to remix one of their biggest hits, Welcome To The Black Parade.
It’s genuinely not too bad, the feelings come rushing back through the building intensity and grandeur of the track that gained MCR the notoriety of being the emo reincarnation of Queen, until Aoki drops the beat and all ridiculous hell breaks loose.
Seriously, there’s just so much going on you have to listen to it twice to process it all.
MCR frontman Gerard Way gave it the big tick of approval though, telling Buzzfeed that he “really loved his remix”

“And what I love about it is the sounds are phenomenal, and he’s kept the intensity, and I think in some ways, the purpose of the song.”
I never thought I’d associate a rave drop with one of my favourite teenage bands, but here we are. Get lit, emo fam.
