Comic Book Icon Stan Lee Has Been Hospitalised Due To Heart Problems

Stan Lee, the iconic man behind some of the most recognisable and globally beloved comic book characters of all time, has reportedly been taken to hospital suffering undisclosed heart problems.

The man who co-created iconic superheroes and comic series like Spider ManX-Men, the Hulk, and Daredevil was taken to Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, and will remain there for at least a few days, according to his representatives.

Lee, who turned 95 on December 28th, last appeared in public a few short days ago at the world premiere of the Black Panther movie, posing with fans on the red carpet.

TMZ reports that the man most associated with Marvel fell ill while at home, experiencing shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat. A spokesperson for the man himself subsequently confirmed he was stabled, and stated that he “is doing well and feeling good, he is staying there for a few days for some check ups as a safety precaution.

Lee’s hospitalisation comes mere days before Marvel Studios releases its latest film franchise, Black Panther, which is due to hit cinemas in Australia on February 15th.

UPDATE: Variety is now reporting that Lee has been discharged from hospital and has returned home, with the 95-year-old stating in a short interview “It did me a lot of good. It probably did my fans a lot of good. It kept me off their backs for the evening. But I’m feeling good now and I can’t wait to get in there and tangle with all the competition.
