Spike Jonze Is Joining The Ever-Growing Cast Of ‘Girls’

The troupe of guest stars assembling for the fourth season of HBO‘s Girls feels a bit like the properties of the universe – finite but unbounded; like an ever-expanding ball of foam. Along with names such as Natasha Lyonne, Marc Maron, Jason Ritter, Gillian Jacobs, Zachary Quinto and Judd Apatow‘s 15 year-old daughter Maude – all previously revealed to be appearing in the new season of Lena Dunham‘s smash hit series – comes the newest arrival to Brooklyn in writer/director/sometimes actor/sometimes Jackass Spike Jonze.

Jonze’s presence on the set of Girls was confirmed by Dunham in an Instagram post, which is visible below through the sheer magic of embedding code.

Much like the other guest stars, not much is known about Jonze’s role in the show, other than the fact that he’ll be playing a character named Marcos.
Jonze gained acclaim for his directing work on films including Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and Her (for which he also took out the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay). Though in addition he has a quietly unheralded acting resume, which has included small roles in films like Three Kings, Moneyball, The Wolf of Wall Street and a recurring role in the BBC series The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret which starred David Cross.
