Police discovered the bodies of 25 dead ponies at a truck stop near Glen Innes in Northern NSW after receiving a tip off on Friday, 16 December.
Local newspaper The Glen Innes Examiner reported that an initial examination of the animals did not reveal any obvious wounds or indicate a cause of death.
Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to get in contact with Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and bring the guilty pony dumping miscreants to justice. The police buried the ponies which is a really nice gesture by the constabulary and one that would be appreciated by the thousands of asylum seekers risking their lives to find refuge in our shores.
