Snapchat overnight introduced both Vance Joy to an international audience and location-based ‘Geofilters‘ that, depending on your location, let you apply cartoonish stickers to enhance predictably terrible photographs of you working out at SoulCycle © [SPONSORED], you at Disneyland Family Resort ® [SPONSORED] and you fondling your sex organs [probably SPONSORED].
Per a report in Mashable, the new location-based filter feature officially launched on Tuesday, but in an effort to edge out an increasing number of competitor apps, the douchey/wily tech startup has been testing the feature in certain locations for a while. While Geofilters are currently applicable in locations like the neighbourhoods of Los Angeles and New York, Australian-themed sticker filters will no doubt follow suit.
Imagine: hotdog legs when you capture a moment on a beach in Queensland; an imitation Banksy when you Snap in a Melbourne laneway; a near empty hourglass as you wile away what could be the last hour of your life in a queue waiting for ice cream in Sydney. You know, fun, important stuff.
