Snapchat Acquired A 3D App & We Demand a 360º Rainbow Vomit Filter ASAP

TechCrunch has reported that selfie master Snapchat secretly acquired 3D / Virtual Reality app Seene

What does this mean? We’re not damned sure yet. But if it doesn’t mean we get 3D filters of us as adorable puppies and vomiting rainbows, then we’ll be pissed. Really, really pissed.
The app goes further than other augmented reality apps – most use your phone’s camera to recognise a 2D image and inject a 3D onto your display. Seene actually injects 3D objects around the things around you, too.
Here’s just a snippet of what Seene can do:
TechCrunch said that Snapchat purchased Seene more so for its computer vision technology and not for its actual consumer product (the app), and so could be planning a plethora of ~cool shit~ with it:
“Snapchat could use Seene’s format for a brand new category of selfie lenses, a new 3D photo format, and potentially for future virtual reality projects.”
Most (but not all) of Seene’s team, previously split between the US and London, will allegedly move to LA to join the Snapchat offices.
