SHIT JUST GOT REAL: ‘Bad Boys 3’ Officially Has A New Title & Release Date

We are all living in a world that is about to be gifted with not one, but two brand new films in the ‘Bad Boys‘ franchise, because it is very clearly a thing we were all asking for.
The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Michael Bay pan-and-talk franchise commissioned a pair of new films after finally convincing OG star Will Smith to jump on board a little while ago.
Whilst initially ‘Bad Boys 3‘ was circling a release in 2017, Smith’s schedule has pushed back shooting several times. The ‘Suicide Squad‘ star moved on to drama film ‘Collateral Beauty‘ immediately after finishing up on ‘Squad,’ with ‘BB3‘ set to begin after that project wraps shooting.
Now distributing studio Sony is circling a release date of January 12, 2018 for the third episode in the on-going saga of Detectives Burnett and Lowery, and what’s more, it’s got itself a fancy new title.
Rather than call itself ‘Bad Boys 3,’ the film will instead be known as ‘Bad Boys For Life.’
And, look. We get it. That’s the catchphrase from the film. It makes sense.
But why, WHY would you name the third film that when you’ve already got a fourth announced AND IT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE TO CALL THAT ONE ‘BAD BOYS 4 LIFE.’
You could even draw a bit of a long bow and work the 3 into the title elsewhere: ‘Bad Boys.’ ‘Bad Boys 2.’ ‘Bad 3oys.’ ‘Bad Boys 4 Life.’
The world doesn’t give you too many layups like that. All you gotta do is not whiff on them, ya feel?
Smith and Martin Lawrence will both return for the new films, but director Michael Bay will not.
Whether or not that’s a good thing is yet to be seen.
