After amassing 345 bids at auction, ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com – the equal parts fabulous and sadistic start up pioneered by 22-year-old Australian SEO entrepreneur Mat Carpenter – sold for $85,000USD at auction today on domain and app marketplace, Flippa.
Not bad for nine days work.
Carpenter’s first side project of the year garnered international headlines last week when the media coined onto the site’s winsome eponymous gimmick, which, per its mission statement, was to “send [soulless people who you fucking hate] so much glitter in an envelope that they’ll be finding that shit everywhere for weeks.“
When we spoke to Mat a few days ago, he told us that he “didn’t expect a small site like this would gain so much traction“, and that the worst thing about the whole debacle has been “the realisation I came to when I figured out that I’d have to be packing and shipping thousands of envelopes.”
Congratulations on dodging that bullet/making cray bank, Mat. You’re an inspiration to us all.
‘All that glitters’, after all.
