I have always admired the hand drawn line and comics especially have played a roll in my early development as a training artist. I wouldn’t say that I am “building on top of” as much as I am “borrowing aesthetics” for my own rendition of conceptual redefining.
Anthony Lister returned to show at New Image Art Gallery in Los Angeles with an untitled solo exhibition composed of Lister’s unmistakable figurative renderings of the warped beauty of ballerinas, a far cry from the larrikin central themes of his last show ‘Bogan Paradise‘. Lister’s latest body of work was composed of sketches taken from a live model and featured both his studies and final paintings in his signature style as well as sculptures, with the opening night featuring a live dance performance as well as a hanging installation.
