Search For 14 Year Old Missing At Maroubra Beach Suspended After Body Found

Today is a devastating one for the family and friends of Tui Gallaher – a 14 year-old boy who went missing at East Sydney‘s Maroubra Beach on Tuesday night- as the news emerges that NSW police discovered a body believed to be his this morning. The search has now been suspended.

Tui was out swimming with his cousin, George Lupeti, on the night of December 27 when both found themselves caught in the surf. A passerby was able to bring George back to shore, however, when they went back for Tui he was nowhere to be found.

Extensive air and sea search efforts were quickly put in place, however had to be scaled back due to the large crowds heading to the beach over this Christmas and NYE break.

Tui is one of his mother Sandra Tamano‘s seven children. Earlier this week Sandra spoke of her grief:

“You don’t know you can run out of tears until something like this happens. I just want my son, that’s what I want, that’s what I need. Nothing else in the world, just my son.”

Tui is one of 10 people who have gone missing at NSW’s beaches since Chrissy day.

Please be safe, you guys.
