Scott Morrison Has A Model Refugee Boat In His Office & Mate, Can You Not?

As part of The New York Times‘ recent fascination with Australia, they tend to do long thinky pieces about our culture and politics and how they relate to the United States. Veteran NYT columnist Maureen Dowd has a bit out which explores how Scott Morrison is basically the only world leader who is giving Trump the time of day, which more or less solidifies our position as the Milhouse of the world.

Named ‘Trump Makes a Friend’, it is basically as nationally embarrassing as you would expect it to be, but it contains a horrific little tidbit which I for one absolutely hate. Emphasis mine:

His office features a model migrant boat bearing the proud declaration “I Stopped These,” and a cabinet adorned with a Jesus shrine and a biblical proverb to “Trust in the Lord.” Morrison, who did not condemn Trump’s infamous travel ban, is never able to convincingly explain how he reconciles his Christian values and the role he plays in dooming children to offshore detention centres.

Good God.

ScoMo also took the time to describe Trump as “very practical” and someone “who’s not going to waste a day,” which suggests he either doesn’t read the news or is doing his very best to look like a special, well-behaved boy for the president. Maybe a little of both.

But c’mon. The model boat. Guys.
