Scott Morrison, Who Will Not Be PM In May, Did The Borat Voice In Parliament

There is a bizarre affliction in the Australian political and media class whereby every single mention of the nation of Kazakhstan – which happens more frequently than you might imagine – is quickly followed by a reference to Borat. It’s just something we do, as a people! I documented it, right here on this website, three years ago.

Today’s mention of Kazakhstan – which I fully believe was only raised so Scott Morrison could do a Borat impression, which he did – came about in a circuitous kind of way: he was lambasting Labor‘s climate policy as a “re-Rudd of failed policy”  because it would involve swapping carbon credits with the Central Asian nation.

He could have picked any country, but he went with Kazakhstan so he could say “Very nice!” You could see it coming, like a car crash.

Anyway here it is:

The character impression is OK, I guess. Pretty forced. Also he pronounces Borat as ‘borrit’. So he loses marks for that. Also, he is probably going to lose in May, so that’s also a few marks against him.

Can we just have the election now, please.
