Sam Smith Says They “100%” Had COVID-19 But Chose To Not Get Tested

Sweet blessed angel Sam Smith has revealed that they “100%” contracted COVID-19, in their latest interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

Sam (virtually) sat down with Zane to talk about getting the virus before the UK went into strict lockdown.

“I didn’t get tested but I know I had it, 100% had it,” they said. “Everything I’ve read completely pointed to that, so, yeah, I think I definitely had it.”

Sam also mentioned their sister falling ill. “As soon as I had it, my sister, like 5 days after me, started getting the same symptoms, who’s living with me… So me and her just isolated for like 3 weeks, ’cause we knew.”

Sam choosing to simply stay at home and rest rather than actively get tested mimics the sentiments of Nyle DiMarco. The US model and actor chose to bypass getting tested in order to leave the in-demand kits for those who were more vulnerable.

“I knew I wasn’t a high risk so I stayed calm,” he explained on Instagram. “I communicated with my doctor and self-quarantined. I kept an eye out for any respiratory issues because if it worsened, it could be deadly.”

“If you are healthy and have no respiratory issues, I encourage you to be mindful of sick patients that need to get tested more than you do.”
