Little more is known about the film at this stage, outside of the fact that it will be a musical. No word on who’s writing the songs, but Sean Anders and John Morris of the Daddy’s Home films are lined up to direct, and the team are currently shopping the project around to studios.

A Christmas Carol, which has been adapted for film many times before, tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghosts of Christmases past, present and yet to come, and is transformed into a kinder, gentler man as a result.

Among the more famous adaptations are The Muppet Christmas Carol, and Scrooged, a comedy version of the story set in 1980s New York and starring Bill Murray.

In other Ryan Reynolds news, he and Blake Lively continue to be adorable on social media. He recently did a photo shoot for his Aviation brand gin, and posted a series of smouldering shots to his Instagram.

Lively, who has been absent from Instagram since she announced her third pregnancy back in May, crept into the comments to say: “Feeling very happy about my life choices right about now…” OH, YOU TWO.
