RIP ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s Director Blake Edwards

The wonderful Blake Edwards has passed away at age 88 from complications of pneumonia.

Comedy direction was always considered his specialty, however he was also an acclaimed screenwriter who often lent his gift for writing to many of his films. Edwards directed Peter Sellers in his signature role as the [insert any word that could substitute ‘bumbling’] Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther. He also helmed the much loved adaptation of Truman Capote’s Breakfast At Tiffany’s which starred Audrey Hepburn in her most iconic role – the Givenchy clad, cigarette smoking, Henry Mancini-strumming Holly Golightly.

In 1969 Edwards married Julie Andrews who appeared in a number of his films, including Darling Lili and Victor Victoria and theirs was one of Hollywood’s most enduring romances. Between them they had five children who, along with Andrews, were by his side when he passed away at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

This one’s for you Blake.
