R.I.P. You After Looking At This Photo Of A Redback Spider Killing A Brown Snake

You’ve had a good life – neither long nor particularly memorable – but it has to come to an end befitting its beginning [grotesque and painful for everyone involved] now that you’ve chosen to subject yourself to the ungodly sight of a redback spider casually laying waste to a baby eastern brown snake, an event that was captured for ‘Straya’s sake by a very brave or very stupid northern Victorian farmer over the past weekend.
“It’s just mindboggling,” Goorac farmer Neale Postlethwaite has today told The Daily Mail of the sight that befell him on entering his garage on Saturday evening, only to find the redback literally lifting the snake – albeit a baby snake – off the ground before hurling it into its nest.
He couldn’t believe it:
“I can’t believe it was actually able to stop it and then hurl it up backwards into its nest.”
The snake was found dead overnight; you too were found dead soon after.
The photos, meanwhile, will live on forever. They join an immortal pantheon of legendary animal v. animal encounters of the ‘Strayan kind, including snake v. crocodilecrocodile v. sharkoctopus v. crab and idiot koala v. common sense
R.I.P. You. We hardly knew ye.
