‘Queer Eye’ Miracle Worker Bobby Berk Officiated 3 Marriages In One Day

3 Couple Got Married By Bobby Berk From Queer Eye During New York's Pride Parade

In news that is just so incredibly lovely, Queer Eye‘s design expert, Bobby Berk, has teamed up with Lyft to officiate 3 same-sex marriages on an actual float in New York’s Pride parade last weekend and it’s just the smile the world needs right now.

The happy New York-based couples, chosen by Lyft prior to the event and introduced to Berk on the day were Andrew Pharis and Guillermo Irias, Toni Botticelli and Melissa Ricker, and Shakarah Dean and Angelina Bowkett. Photographer Kelly Balch was present on the day (and on the float) to take the wedding portraits, and she was kind enough to share some of her faves with the world.

Speaking to OUT magazine before the event, Berk spoke of his own marriage to Dewey.

My husband and I have been married for six years, we got married as soon as it was legal to get married and we were married by a friend who was ordained. I thought this was a great way to give back to our community.

“Being able to be married is one of the things I have the most pride of in the world. I never thought that I was going to be able to be married. My husband and I have been together for 14 years and we thought that we would be life partners, so there’s a lot of pride in that. That’s what I want to show the world, pride through this expression of love.

Berk goes on to explain why he felt it was so important to get involved during Pride week, and the importance of having a loving community around you who understands what you’ve been through.

That’s one of the beautiful things about the queer community: we are so loving and accepting. We’ve been shut out and discriminated against our whole lives, so we have the opportunity to take control of our situation and welcome everyone. These three couples getting married, with tens of thousands of their “chosen family” of witnesses is beautiful.

Is Queer Eye and its Fab Five hosts just the best things to have entered this world? Probably, imo. Our hearts are full.
