QLD Police Manhunt Underway After Discovery Of Teen Girl’s Body In A Barrel

Queensland Police are searching for a man who abandoned a vehicle found to be carrying the body of a teenaged girl in a barrel.

The Courier-Mail reports police attended an address in Buccan around 1:30pm yesterday in relation to the disappearance of 16-year-old Larissa Beilby, who was reported missing on June 15.

Upon arrival, a man left the premises in a black ute.

The vehicle was followed to a caravan park in Stapylton, where the driver ditched the ute and left in a late-model silver Holden Commodore, license plate 966 WKB.

Authorities state they discovered the body while searching the ute. The body has not yet been formally identified, with police saying it may take several days to accurately assess the remains.

The girl’s death is being treated as a murder. Police are conducting a forensic investigation at the scene, and have begun interviewing witnesses at the caravan park for more information.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark White has urged anyone who sees the silver Commodore not to approach any potential occupants, but to call police on 000.
