Queensland Police Punish / Reward Hero Dog By Making Him An Honorary Cop

Depending on how you feel about police and the way in which their power is wielded, a fucking wonderful family dog has either been rewarded or punished by Queensland Police Service by being named as an honorary police dog for its valiant part in the rescue of a three-year-old who was lost on a property near Warwick.

Max, a 17-year-old blue heeler who is both deaf and partially blind, stayed with Aurora overnight until she was eventually found the next morning by the over 100 SES volunteers who were searching for her.

According to the ABC, Aurora’s grandmother said that Max helped her find Aurora in the scrub:

When I heard her yell ‘Grammy’ I knew it was her. I shot up the mountain […] and when I got to the top, the dog came to me and led me straight to her. He never left her sight. She smelled of dog, she slept with the dog.

If that shit doesn’t make you tear up, you are an actual monster.

At the time, the police indicated they were going to make Max an honorary cop for his actions, which they followed through on today, presenting him with a QPS collar and medallion.

Will Max use his newfound powers as a cop to disproportionately target and punish minorities and the poor, or will he use them for good? Only time will tell.
