Queen Signs Fancy Parchment So Harry & Meghan Can 100% Marry

Royal news time! Once again sending a messenger bird out into the world, The Royal Family have tweeted the ~ Instrument of Consent ~ the official confirmation from the Queen allowing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to marry.

The document was signed back on March 14 of this year and has been released to the public so we can “OooOooOo” and “AhhHhHhh” at it.

In total shocking news, the document was hand-written and illuminated on vellum by a scrivener artist handpicked by the Crown Office. Vellum is only used for extremely important State documents since it’s a very old school form of parchment.

The main gist of the document reads:

“NOW KNOW YE that We have consented and do by these Poresents signify Our Consent to the contracting of Matrimony between Our Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales, K.C.V.O., and Rachel Meghan Markle.”

Yes, Meghan’s real name is Rachel. The more you know.

Check out that ‘E’ though, I can’t even write my name properly.

Even though it’s just a document the symbolism behind the designs are pretty damn cool.

The document bears two main designs on either side. Each include a rose because it’s the national flower of the United States and both also feature Harry’s Label.  The designs also include three tiny red scallops from the Spencer family arms AKA Princess Diana. The design on the left has a dragon to represent the heraldic symbol of Wales. The flowers on either side represent the UK’s floral emblems being the thistle and shamrock.

The rose on the right has yellow poppies on either side of it because it’s the state flower of California – the place where Meghan was born. There are also olive branches beneath it which were inspired by the Great Seal of the United States.

Pretty cute, my friends, pretty cute.

The Instrument of Consent is also sealed with this massive Great Seal of the Realm. It hangs off the document and is attached by a woven cord which has been sealed into the seal.

A lot of seals.

But look, it’s y’huge.

Via another royal bird, Kensington Palace announced The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the 27th Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, will give the address during the wedding ceremony.

Bishop Curry is making the trip from Chicago and will speak alongside The Dean of Windsor and the Archbishop of Canterbury who will officiate the marriage vows.

What a title.

Harry and Meghan will marry come May 19. Aussies can catch its coverage on Channel 7 from 6PM, Channel 9 from 7PM, and ABC will stream it from 7:30PM as will SBS.
