Queensland Police has appealed for public assistance to help piece together exactly what happened before, and during, the horrific water ride accident that led to the deaths of four people at Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast yesterday.
Detective Inspector Mark Thompson held a press conference asking that anyone who either witnessed the incident or took photos or footage of the ride in the time leading up – or during – contact Crime Stoppers as they continue with an “intricate” investigation that’s required for the Queensland Coroner.
“Police are aware there would be a significant number of people that were present yesterday and we’d like to make an appeal to anyone… who has any information. That could be eyewitness accounts of this incident we’re investigating or any photos or footage they may have taken on mobile phone to contact Crime Stoppers in order to assist us with our inquiries.”
A special investigation centre has been set up at the Coomera Police Station, with 30 detectives who have already taken in excess of 40 statements from park attendees so far.
It’s already been confirmed the horror accident was caught on the park’s CCTV system, but additional camera angles could prove crucial to the evolving investigation.
Thompson also stated police are keen to speak with anyone who rode are also specifically looking to speak with anyone who rode the Thunder River Rapids
