QLD Pizza Shop Owner Gets Outta Work With Most Honest ‘Sick’ Note Ever

What would make your Monday brighter, nicer, slightly more bearable? If your answer is “stories about earnest and adorable small business proprietors being straightforward with their customers to wide acclaim” then boy howdy, are you in luck.
The jocularly-named Blake Pendlebury, owner of Mount Tambourine takeaway joint Gaslight Pizza, is charming the pants off his punters after leaving them a really honest sick note.
Pendlebury, who only opened Gaslight a few months ago, had a surprise win at the Gold Coast‘s Magic Millions racing event on the weekend, and – well, he tells the story best:

Yep. He couldn’t come in to work because a horse he had a share in – a horse called Irish Constabulary, to be specific – won a race worth $250,000, and Our Mate Blake had a few drinks to celebrate. Being a responsible business owner, he decided that cooking while under the influence (swilling and grilling?) was a bad idea.
His customers overwhelmingly agreed, probably ‘coz it’s literally impossible not to because the whole thing’s just so damn sweet.
Check out Gaslight Pizza’s Facebook page for more things that make you go “aww!“:
I’m imagining some of Pendlebury’s $10,000 share of his ponies win will go towards fixing that state of broken downness. Congrats, Blake!
