You’d think as a country we’d be used to fuck off big spiders by now, but no, the visceral impact of seeing one of these massive eight-legged freaks will never be lessened because they are innately bloody terrifying – and also seem to somehow be getting bigger? I blame climate change.
Melanie Jade Ottoway and Troy James were sitting down to a pleasant evening’s meal in beautiful Beerwah, Queensland on Sunday when they noticed what seemed to be one of Godzilla‘s many giant enemies casually snacking down on an entire gecko.
The spider looks to be a huntsman, which the couple described as about “dinner-plate sized” but in my professional estimation appears to be closer to around 6 – 8 metres tall.
Imagine trying to go to sleep knowing that, at any point in the evening, this bloke or his relatives could carry you off into an Aragog-sized nest.
