QLD Police Identify Two People Found Dead On Beach Near Abandoned Jet Ski

Queensland Police have confirmed the identities of two people found dead on a Bribie Island beach on Saturday morning, and say their deaths are now being treated as accidental.

Authorities initially treated their deaths as as “suspicious” and were awaiting autopsy results.

A 39-year-old man from the Sunshine Coast, and a 38-year-old woman believed to be a foreign national, were discovered by a volunteer inspecting turtle nests on the island north of Brisbane.

They were found wearing swimming clothes and had sustained notable injuries. It is believed they had been dead for at least a day when they were discovered.

An abandoned jet ski was discovered in nearby Pumicestone Passage. Investigators are working to determine if the jet ski belonged to either individual.

Authorities have set up a crime scene on the island and have gathered forensic evidence from the area.
