PSA: Australia’s First & Only George Costanza-Themed Bar Opens Tonight

Book a private jet.

Rent a magic carpet.
Create the means to facilitate teleportation., people.
In short: do whatever it takes to get your fucking ass to Melbourne for the grand-opening of Australia’s very own George Costanza-themed bar.
The venue, formally titled George’s Barwill open its doors in Melbourne‘s Fitzroy this NYE, with a toastie and cocktail menu based on lols from Seinfeld, as well as autographed paraphernalia and Seinfeld paste ups.
Wondering how one conceives (what’ll surely be) such a million dollar idea?
“We really like Seinfeld,” co-owner and operator, David Barrett (dude’s also behind Laundry Bar) told The Age.
Sure, it’s an admittedly underwhelming reason, but you get that some days.
“We came up with the name George’s and worked backwards, concept themeing it… So at the moment we’ve got our toasties menu which has items like The Art Vandalay, The Costanza and The Mom and Pop. We’re still finalising the cocktail menu but it will be similar.”
The theme continues throughout, with the front doors emblazoned with George-quote gold i.e. ‘It’s not a lie if you believe it’.
Barrett crosses-his-heart-hopes-to-die that, despite the themeing, the space won’t fall short on providing all that a good watering-hole should.
“Cheesy bars in Melbourne aren’t really a thing. After 20 years in this business I think I’ve figured that out so we’re making it a solid bar in it’s own right as well.”

LET US THE FUCK IN PLS.

Get around George’s Bar at 120 Johnston St, Fitzroy, Melbourne from 6pm tonight; open 7 days from 6pm ’til late.
