Apparently The Brit Govt Are Not OK W/ The Obamas Going To Harry’s Wedding

Being royal must be weird – not only are there all these bizarre traditions and rules, and you live in a big palace thing (I think, the living situation of the royals confuses me) and it’s all polite-wave, polite-wave, painfully fake smile, kiss a baby’s head etc.

Oh, and the British Government getting involved in your DAMN WEDDING.

At least, if the reports are true, that’s the case. See, according to The Sun, Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle told aides they wanted former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle at their wedding.

The issue? Well, it doesn’t look like current President Donald Trump will get one of the coveted invites.

Meghan made a bunch of anti-Trump comments in the lead up to his election, so it seems she’s not a fan. But given British and US relations are reportedly not so crash-hot these days, it seems the government is concerned the Prez might have a bit of a tanty if the Obamas are invited and he’s snubbed.

“Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness,” a senior government source told The Sun. “Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a Royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen.”

Good lord, is wedding planning not stressful enough with all that “can we sit George near Kylie, you know the last time they saw each other was when he accused her of keying his car post-breakup” business? Yes, it bloody well is.

The wedding isn’t a “state occasion”, so that means the government can only be involved in a consultative role, so chances are unless Haz decides to take their suggestions on board, he and Meghan’ll invite whoever they damn want.
