Port Macquarie Stabbing Attacker Revealed As Obsessive Tinder Stalker

More details have emerged regarding the lead-up to a brutal stabbing attack in Port Macquarie on Thursday night, and the subsequent police shooting death of the offender.

36-year-old Paul Lambert hid in former partner Angela Jay’s house before stabbing her 11 times and dousing her with gasoline. After fleeing the scene and leading police on a car chase to Bonville, he attacked officers with a knife. As a result, law enforcement officers shot him dead.
Jay received help from a neighbour and survived the attack. She remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Now, it’s been revealed that Lambert obsessively stalked Jay after meeting her through Tinder eight weeks ago. After Jay turned down any further involvement with Lambert, he sent her a string of threatening messages.
Jay temporarily relented and attended a function with him on Saturday night, but his behaviour eventually forced her to seek accommodation with her sister. Lambert visited those premises unannounced several times through the night and reportedly sent 50 messages to her the following day.
Those messages and his behaviour prompted her to apply for an Apprehended Violence Order on Lambert, which police accepted. The matter was meant to be heard in court on November 16.
The Daily Mail learned Lambert was also arrested and deported from the US last year for breaching a restraining order against him in similar circumstances, and colleagues described him as “so polished at work, it was only when you saw him regularly that you could see through it.”

The State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad is investigating Lambert’s death, and an independent review will be given to the Coroner.
