Pornhub Copped A Lot Of Traffic During The YouTube Outage Which Sounds About Right

First-worlders were thrown into chaos when streaming giant YouTube experienced a global outage on Tuesday evening (Wednesday for us). Millions around the world were suddenly forced to go outside, work, study, sleep, socialise, you name it and it wasn’t pretty. Many took to Twitter to voice their sadness/outrage/freedom but others, others appeared to turn to the next best thing. Pornhub.

Ever so curious, the thinkers over at Mashable Australia thought they would approach Pornhub to see if the YouTube freeze meant anything for the porn site’s traffic and look, it really did. After getting in contact, Pornhub confirmed they saw a surge in traffic reaching “21 per cent above daily averages at 10pm.”

“That’s a significant increase by millions of additional viewers during Pornhub’s peak evening hours,” Pornhub noted.

Why? Because “When you can’t tube, you fap instead!”

Pornhub really took advantage of the YouTube freeze.

Surprisingly or not surprisingly – since most kinks are on Pornhub these days – a number of search terms increased during the YouTube outage.  The term “YouTube” itself went up by 183 per cent while “wwe”, “fortnite”, “minecraft”, “pokemon”, “twitch”, “overwatch”, and “halloween” also saw an increase.

According to Pornhub’s handy graphs from the day, the search for “fortnite” went up by 109 per cent as did the search for “ASMR” videos (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). The latter shot right up by 201 per cent.

According to Mashable, traffic dropped right down once YouTube was up and running again. Balance was restored.
