Police: The Two Cronulla Arrests Were Anti-Fascist, Anti-Racist Protestors

Counter-protestors to Nicholas Folke’s now infamous “Halal Free BBQ” in Cronulla had exactly one job: show up. Their mere presence was instantly enough to make the barbie-goers seem ridiculous by comparison.

As the furore has died down though, it’s become apparent that members of the anti-Fascist and anti-racist groups were a lil’ bit too full of piss and vinegar, with footage emerging of counter-protestors initiating scuffles at the site.

Now, it’s been confirmed that the two men who were arrested after today’s events weren’t from the original protest group, but were actually part of the counter-protest.
The two arrests made today were a 58-year-old man from the anti-racist contingent, and a 25-year-old repping the black-clad mob Antifa, who well outnumbered the actual anti-Islam activists.
There are reports they actively abused the police on the scene, and called the Australian flag – literally “worn with pride” by the Party For Freedom crowd – another piece of Fascist iconography.

Of course, for every one who lashed out, there are stacks more who only wanted to voice their solidarity with Australian Muslims. Unfortunately, the rash actions of the few tarnish the rest on both sides of the spectrum.

No arrests were made from those among the barbequers. Does that make up for wanting to commemorate a race riot? Not a chance.
