Police Seize Around $500,000 Worth Of Pills Bound For Music Festival

Police in Queensland have seized around 7500 pills, with an estimated value of $500,000, that they claim were bound for Future Music Festival, which is being held today at Doomben Racecourse in Brisbane.

In terms of quantity, that’s somewhere between ‘quite a lot’ and ‘a metric shitload.’
Per reports in The Music, members of the QPS anti-bikie squad carried out a series of raids at properties across Brisbane and Russell Island yesterday, netting the pills, along with a cool $50,000 in cash.
Yesterday’s raids followed one several weeks ago at an alleged “drug production safe house” in Bulimba, in Brisbane’s east. This earlier raid turned up large quantities of cocaine, ecstasy and methamphetamine, as well as $16,000 cash.
Following said raid, police received intelligence indicating that those arrested were part of a syndicate “stockpiling drugs” to sell at Future Music Festival, leading to yesterday’s larger bust.
As a result of Friday’s operation, 17 people have been charged with 110 offenses, most relating to drugs. Those facing charges are expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
