Police Encourage Others To Come Forward After Young Couple Verbally Abused

If you missed it yesterday, a video is doing the rounds of what is apparently the aftermath of a young couple being verbally abused on the train to Sydney Airport:

This video was not recorded by me. But that is what happened to us on sydney train, God bless Stacey Eden who support us.

The accompanying description from Stacey Eden who recorded it:

“So i sat there for a good 10 minutes before i started recording this, while i listened to this woman bad mouth muslims and call the lady sitting opposite me an ISIS supporter because she wore a scarf, then she told me to go join ISIS because i was sticking up for her. People like this make me sick. People who are so ignorant and disrespectful to other people who were clearly sitting there minding their own business.

She was saying some pretty horrible and hurtful things before i spoke up then as soon as i started defending them she stopped.
People need to stop judging and putting others down over religion! EVERY RELIGION HAS GOOD AND BAD but if you take it back to the foundations, every religion is also built on LOVE. To LOVE one another. The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others.

NSW Police are looking over the footage but, as yet, they have received no formal complaint, nor have they identified the old lady involved. However, they did make it clear that they always “encourage anyone who is the victim of a biased motivated crime to report the matter to local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

Tbh, whilst we’re here talking, this is another example of why it’s worth calling out family members or friends when/if they casually espouse opinions along these lines. Better to have a gentle word explaining why they’re being hella unchill and get to them before they’re yelling their ignorant ass opinions that they read in News Corp @innocentbystanders on public transport, bringing YouTube shame on your family.

In the meantime, as always,
