Rain can be a lot of things – soothing, sexy, romantic, whatever floats your boat. But rain all day long? Nah, mate. And that’s exactly what’s happening across the country today reminding us all that winter is officially and truly here to ruin everything.
A brutal – brutal cold snap has struck Australia after the Bureau of Meteorology warned us of incoming cold and showery weather, earlier this week. Snow was also expected to come down in Victoria and NSW and sort of did… if you count a nice light sprinkle:

According to BoM, Canberra’s currently sitting on a toasty 4 degrees while Melbourne and Sydney have it slightly better – 12 degrees with a 100 per cent chance of too much bloody rain.
Showers, cold winds, small hail and thunder! ⛈️ Today’s miserable weather is brought to you by the low over eastern Bass Strait. The best part of #Victoria today is over the northwest – still cool and breezy but dry. Check out the current radar at https://t.co/T1VBGIWEK4 pic.twitter.com/FYC4FqJ8pq

In Melbourne alone, an isolated fall across the good ol’ Tullamarine airport area reportedly racked up 25 millimetres of rain since 2AM making today the wettest of winter so far. Overnight, the city gauge took in five millimetres of rain.
As per 9NEWS, a home flooded after a dam burst in the city’s north this arvo. SES crews have reportedly been called to multiple incidents because of extreme flooding and have spent the afternoon sandbagging homes.
A road weather alert has been issued by BoM and VicRoads for reduced and poor visibility due to aforementioned shitty weather so please be careful if you’re headed home from the footy, dinner or whatnot.
Speaking of which, in today’s clash between the Tigers and Cats, this happened pre-game:

That, my friends are the remains of the Richmond banner – a banner the players ran over instead of tearing through.
How often do you see players go over the banner?
Go Tiges!

Despite the limp banner, the Tigers took the win and made it rain with Gatorade:

Across the country, people who like feeling the cold did stuff I severely judged:

While others are just trying to cope with the cold snap:
Although I love winter, I also hate being cold.
As a result I transform into a walking doona. pic.twitter.com/0U9x3QUbkz

Since it’s cold ,looks like I will be watching Netflix and YouTube videos in bed with my hotwaterbottle #melbourneweather

For Melbournians, the rain is expected to clear tomorrow but in this city, that could mean anything.
Rug up.
